WHY are Greens worth nothing?
I've been told that most "green" items are worthless in terms of price (5k-7k)
Can I ask why this is? |

because a lot of them are so incredibly easy to farm, and also you can't modify or dye green items

Simple Answer...
Greens Are So Easily Farmed Theyre Value Is....Nothing Special Lol. Even End-Game Reward Greens Are Worth Diddly Squat As So Many Chars Have Completed The Chapters. Hope It Helps. Markus |

Personally purple does the job too. as long as i can mod it an its r9 max dmg. ill buy it. gold just makes you feel good i guess. and greens just too easy to get for it to be worth anything

They are easy to farm and people have lots of them since the game is almost 5 years old

1. They can't be modded
2. Many of them have undesirable stats 3. Some of them have great stats, but ugly skins 4. With the advent of inscriptions, it's very easy to find a weapon with a skin you like and mod it to the stats you want. 5. Greens may be "unique" but there are so many different ones, there's nothing special about them - not like back when Sorrow's Furnace was the only place to get them. |

I think the reasons have pretty much been listed, only thing I might add is that they cannot be dyed either,- which to some is a severe limitation.

This. Nightfall ultimately spelled the end of Green weapons. Yes, weapons were modifiable but Greens were more valuable because of their perfect inherent modifications (+15% above 50% health etc). Even worse for shields that were so rare to get double mods, that green shields were quite sought after. But after a while, as many have said, even if the inscriptions were never made available, the simple fact that the greens were so easily farmed, many Green weapons flooded the market that they were so common place (the Bludgeoner for example quickly dropped to 2/5k within 5 months of Sorrows Furnace opening). Therefore nowadays, with such a saturated market of "perfect" weapons that cost next to nothing, people can easily afford to buy a skin that they prefer and purchase their own mods and create their own weapons specifically to their needs, for example, Galigord's Stone Staff and Rago's Flame Staff are probably the only usable green staves available. |

6. If the price of the skin that the green items goes low , that green will go even lower price. Nowadays only great skin greens go for more than 20k , like those bows with silverwing skin or spear of the hierophant ( voltaic ) , and if anet decides to make them drop on reg chests for example , that price would drop drastically. Example ? Stygian Reaver skin and Murakai ( farming + Zchest drop |

If you can sell a green for 5K you should be happy, most of them are worthless.

7. With the BMP, you can get any r9 base item you want
8. With the end-game trade-ins you can also get anything you want |

As others have said,
1: Cannot Mod 2: Cannot Dye 3: Most have crap mods 4: Some have decent mods and crap skin 5: It's really a question of rarity (Once you have done everything in the game and require nothing, yet have a fair amount built up, this will matter to you) |

I loves me greens anyway - got two mules-full, arrr! ^_^
I be currently farmin' TotPK with a spirit-spammer, 6 or 7 greens per run. A prized booty indeed, but still no Victo's Axe, Victo's Bluwark or Ogre-Slaying Knife, damn their eyes. It be me aim to grab me one of every green in the game before I goes to Davey Jones' Locker - t'will be a fair old grind indeed, yarr.

Yup.
When ToPK started with greens they were selling for 100+e, within 2 weeks due to the immense amount of farming prices dropped like a rock. I've sold Victo's Bulwark within seconds once for 100K+15e, now, maybe a few K if you are lucky? Greens are great for heroes and some are quite decent stat wise but its simply too easy to get them and the market gets flooded hence the prices drop. |

After 4+ years there are just too many in the game for them to hold much worth, but I still regularly sell them on the auction for 5k.
They make great hero weapons.

Thank'ee, Wyn - but t'wouldn't be the same if I were to be given one. 'Tis the winning that's the thing, arrr?
Ogre-Slayin' Knife, aye; about as good as a butter spreader, but who wouldn't be itchin' to be sayin' "I be attackin The Darrrrrkness - with me knife that be +3 against Ogres"?
